Construction Zone: Enemies

Under Construction

March 25, 2008

If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; if he is thirsty, give him water to drink.  In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head, and the Lord will reward you.  Proverbs 25:21-22

Lord, give me a genuine love for others … especially those who are difficult.  I have such a hard time dealing with people who are clingy or needy.  And I tend to just ignore those who don’t like me … but You have called me to something higher – to serve them and to love them.

It’s not enough to avoid my enemies … I’m called to engage them with Your love.

I love this quote from Bishop Whipple, known as “The Apostle of the Indians” ~

For the last thirty years, I have looked for the face of Christ in the people with whom I have disagreed.

What a challenge!!  And one I am learning to embrace.

What does loving your enemies look like in your life?

Living in the construction zone,
