Fear Fighting: When Rejection Tears Your Heart Apart {guest post by Kelly Balarie}

  I'm thrilled to welcome Kelly Balarie whose book, Fear Fighting: Awakening Courage to Overcome Your Fears, releases today. I'll be sharing more about the book has impacted me and my thoughts about the coming year later this month. But today, I wanted you to hear from Kelly about a topic we all face—rejection. Kelly's words are a great reminder and reminder for all of us as 2017 begins. ~ TL Fear Fighting: When Rejection Tears Your Heart Apart I remember it like yesterday: he ... [Read More]

{Book Review} 66 Ways God Loves You by Jennifer Rothschild

This week has been hard in so many ways. Our beloved Mamaw Underwood is slowing fading from this earth. And we are thankful for the almost 92 years she has lived and the way she has loved her family so well. But we are keenly aware that her days here are few and soon she will be healed and whole in the presence of the Lord. Tuesday I was able to help her hospice nurse give her a bath. As we gently lifted her tiny arms and legs and washed her hair, I thought about what a holy thing we were ... [Read More]

What I’m Reading || November 2016

If you want to know how long it takes to write a book, the answer {for me at least} is—the whole series of "West Wing." No joke, I started writing with the first season as my background noise because Aaron Sorkin's writing is genius. And yesterday I hit send on the email to my editor with manuscript attached just as President Bartlet said, "Tomorrow" in the final episode. #BarletForAmerica, y'all. Whatever You Do

Welcome to Day 23 of 31 Ways to Embrace Lopsided Living! On Sundays we are meditating on a verse that encourages us in our Lopsided Living pursuit.  Today's verse is one I am leaning into a lot lately. I also have a low threshold for managing stress and dealing with change. Basically, I like to make a ... [Read More]

Living Sacrifices

Welcome to Day 16 of 31 Ways to Embrace Living Lopsided! On Sundays we are taking time to meditate on a specific verse or passage and understand how it helps us live abundantly and with intention. Today's verse is one of my favorites:  I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Romans 12:1 Lopsided Living Reminds Us We Are Called to Be Living Sacrifices That ... [Read More]

Sometimes Good Enough Is Enough

Welcome to Day 14 of 31 Ways to Embrace Lopsided Living! Remember yesterday when I said to choose best over good. So true, right? But let’s face it, we can’t be the best at everything we do. Nor can we give our best to every situation or activity we are involved in. It isn’t possible. Not only that, some things really don’t need our best — they just need to be done. My problem is I lean toward the perfectionist, Type A, and possibly a little compulsive type. And I'm guessing some of ... [Read More]
