A Prayer for My Girl’s Senior Year

Posted on August 8, 2017August 12, 2020by Teri Lynne Underwood
As my daughter's senior year begins, my prayer for her is rooted in gratitude for who she is and who she is becoming. #prayingforgirls

In July 1995 Scott and I sat in the Pizza Hut in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, shocked about my pregnancy.  Just a few weeks before, a fertility specialist in Birmingham had basically assured us that day would never come. Our miracle baby, the one for whom we had prayed for almost four years, was born February […]

Praying Scripture for our Daughters and our Marriages

Posted on April 25, 2016April 25, 2016by Teri Lynne Underwood
When we root our prayers in the living and active Word of God those petitions become even more powerful and purposeful.

Praying Scripture is powerful!! I suppose it’s not a big secret how much I love the Word of God. I’ve been seriously studying and teaching the Bible for the past twenty years. My ongoing prayer is that God will give me greater passion for His Word and a greater ability to communicate the truths it […]

When Hard Conversations Open the Door to Really Good Ones

Posted on April 22, 2016by Teri Lynne Underwood
Keep having those hard conversations, sweet mom! Because one day you'll find they have laid the foundation for some really good conversations!

Sometimes being the mom of a teenage girl is the coolest thing ever. Like when we plan a Netflix binge of One Tree Hill or when we spend a few hours shopping for shoes. But then there are the other 6.5 days of the week when it’s just plain hard. The past few months have […]

Dear Daughter, The Truth about Love

Posted on February 29, 2016February 29, 2016by Teri Lynne Underwood
Sweet girl, I want you to know the truth about love. I’ve prayed for you to know the fullness of God’s great love for you … a love that gave itself up, the ransom for your eternal life. And I’ve prayed you will love others with a love that can only come from God, from the assurance of His tender care for you.

To my dear daughter, You turned sixteen this month. I am well aware of how exciting that is to you but I’m pretty sure you have no idea how much this birthday has shaken me. More than any before, this February 17th brought home the truth that time is fleeting. You’ll be getting your license and experiencing […]

{book review} Triggers by Amber Lia & Wendy Speake

Posted on February 16, 2016February 15, 2016by Teri Lynne Underwood
book review of Triggers: Exchanging Parents' Angry Reactions for Gentle Biblical Responses by Amber Lia and Wendy Speake

It happened again this weekend. I call it the “Clash of the Hormones.” Between my girl’s teenager hormones and my menopausal hormones, let’s just say it can get highly emotional around here and things can escalate quickly. I don’t say that to make light of it … or to excuse it.  But if we’re honest, almost […]

Dig into Scripture with me?

Scripture Dig — a community for women who want to DIG into God's Word. Develop the habit. Invest in others. Grow in confidence.

Want more encouragement for living well? Sign up for my monthly newsletter.

Love these Bible Study Resources!

The Daily Grace Co. is one of my favorite places for Bible study resources. Gospel-driven studies, beautiful journals, and more.
This is hard. And none of us was really prepared for how hard it would be. Here's what I'm finding, even when I don't FEEL hope, I can KNOW hope. Because hope isn't a feeling, hope is a Person. If you're struggling, lean into Jesus.
Why is giving ourselves space in between Bible studies valuable? Two reasons not to jump from study to study.

Not sure what or how to pray? I wrote this book for all of us who want to pray with confidence and power.

Praying for Girls: Asking God for the Things They Need Most (Bethany House, 2017) by Teri Lynne Underwood contains 200 Bible-based prayers as well as suggested activities and conversation starters, Praying for Girls is a must-have tool in every mom’s arsenal.
