My Child Acts Like a Child …. Who Knew??

Sometimes the Lord has to smack me upside the head in order for me to understand. Anyone else? This month on Mothers of Daughters, Stacey asked us to share from Proverbs. I was excited because Proverbs is one of my favorite books. As I began reading and praying about what to write, the Lord brought me to this verse: Folly is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of discipline drives it far from him {her}. Proverbs 22:15 ESV As I read it several times, I realized how often I forget ... [Read More]

Let Down the Nets

The final session of .MOM was Priscilla Shirer ... and she was fantabulous!  Using Luke 5:1-11 as her text, Priscilla shared how Peter had left his boat after a disappointing and unsuccessful night of fishing ... and yet Jesus used that very boat to teach the crowds, and Peter, AND US!!, "He sees you! We serve a God who sees the deck of disappointment on the boat of your life.  We serve a God who sees the boat of our circumstances and He cares!" With a challenge to consider what boats we have ... Construction Zone: Wisdom

October 9, 2005 If you become wise, you will be the one to benefit.  If you scorn wisdom, you will be the one to suffer. Proverbs 9:12 This verse reminds me there are consequences for the choices we make.  All of Proverbs is a choice – to pursue wisdom or not. Lord, thank You for giving me a desire to pursue wisdom.  Teach me what it is to be wise in Your eyes.  And help me learn to apply the knowledge I gain and use it with my experiences wisely. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Still my earnest prayer … ... Construction Zone: Deep Within

October 7, 2008 Follow my advice, my son; always treasure my commands.  Obey them and live!  Guard my teachings as your most precious possession. Tie them on your fingers as a reminder.  Write them deep within your heart. Proverbs 7:1-3 “Write them deep within” my heart … Lord, teach me what this means and how to live this way. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ How I still long to be filled with the depth of God’s revelation to me!  I continue to find myself longing for more time in the Word, more ... Construction Zone: Pride

March 2, 2006 For the Lord grants wisdom!  From His mouth come knowledge and understanding. Proverbs 2:6 NLT From today’s devotion - “Since God is the ultimate source of wisdom, those who try to become wise on their own will not succeed.” Lord, help me remember this truth!  Too often I rely on my knowledge and understanding.  Forgive me for my pride and arrogance.  ~ Amen ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Time and again I’ve been reminded that it is only by God’s grace that I am able to grow and learn … and only ... The Construction Zone

Over the past ten years my life has been under major construction by the Lord.  That process began, as it generally does, with a keen awareness of a need in my life.  My urgent prayer, as I held my new baby and moved nine hours away from our family, was for wisdom. Wisdom in parenting, in marriage, in living, in loving … in everything.  I claimed James 1:5 just about every day. If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given ... [Read More]
