I’m a firm believer in Scripture-based prayers. Books like Stormie Omartian’s The Power of a Praying Wife are resources I continually draw from. Over the past two Sundays, we’ve looked at Scriptures to pray for our husbands’ hearts and minds.

This week, I encourage you to invest the time to pray Scripture for your husband and for your marriage. Each year I ask the Lord to give me a passage to pray over Scott for that year. Typically I do this during June as it is the month of our anniversary and of Scott’s birthday.  My current prayer is based on his life verse, Micah 6:8

He has told you, O Man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

Last summer, my dear friend Julie invited me to share about how I pray for Scott during her Summer of Wedded Bliss series.  In my post there, I shared the whole prayer I wrote for him.  Today I’m sharing just a portion {but it would be awesome if you’d head over to Julie’s blog to read the whole thing and, while you’re there, check out her current series on marriage because it is FAB.U.LOUS}.

Father, You know Scott’s heart. You alone know the depths of his longings and his desires. You see in him the beauty of Your creation and the glory of Your image. Thank You for giving me glimpses of those things as well. In the year ahead, I pray earnestly for You to reveal to him the places where he can be a part of bringing justice in this world. Continue to open his eyes to the plight of those who are disconnected, disenfranchised, and far too often unseen. Use his gifts and his heart to make others aware of the needs around us and allow him to lead the way in doing justice for Your sake.

Have you ever used Scripture as a basis for your prayers? What are some verses you pray over your husband and your marriage?

Cheering you on,
TL
