{Clean} Fiction Recommendations

It’s no big secret I’m a reader.  I love a good book.  For most of my adult life, I’ve been an avid reader of nonfiction.  But since I got my Kindle (and with it access to a plethora of free e-books), I have noticed I read a lot more fiction.  However, with all those free e-books, it can be hard to know what is worth reading.  So, how about a list of some {clean} fiction recommendations?

The Lineage of Grace series by Francine Rivers.  Oh my word!  Each of these novellas is the account of one of the women named in the lineage of Christ.  Fabulous stories of these women based on Scripture.  Rivers does a fantastic job of adding dialog and setting that enhance our understanding of the times in which each woman lived.

The Baxter Family Books by Karen Kingsbury.  I confess I have devoured all the Baxter books.  My favorite characters are Ashley Baxter Blake and Bailey Flanigan.   If you have never read anything by Kingsbury, start with the Redemption series.  From there you’ll dive into the Firstborn series and follow up with the Sunrise series. The Bailey Flanigan series includes many familiar Baxter family members and the final Baxter book is Coming Home.

Sarai by Jill Eileen Smith.  This novel is part of her Wives of the Patriarchs series.   I admit I’ve only read this one but I would imagine the others are excellent reads as well.  I also enjoyed Smith’s first novel in the Wives of David series, Michal.   Her writing style and descriptions are amazing.

Journey to the Well by Diana Wallis Taylor.  Oh. My. Word.  I loved this book! In fact, I’ve read it a couple of times.  A genius telling of the Samaritan woman at the well.  The twists and turns in her story had me up late at night unable to put the book down.

The O’Malley series by Dee Henderson.  Totally different than any of my other recommendations, this series is about six siblings, each of whom work in a different area of law enforcement or public service.  Henderson creates compelling story lines that reflect the reality of our modern world while offering multi-dimensional characters you can’t help but cheer for.

  1. Well, I have a bunch of new books to add to me “must read” list! My favorite fiction author at the moment is Sarah Sundin. I am a big fan of historical fiction 🙂

  2. I just finished Dark Eyes, Deep Eyes by T. Neal Tarver and really liked it. It’s a bit different han the books you recommend but still good, Christian fiction.

  3. I am anxious to read Dee Henderson’s newest when it comes out! I love her military-themed series as well.

    I agree that Sarah Sundin’s a new favorite too–enjoy her WWII-era books.

I’m very much over Amish fiction, however.

  4. and redemption didn’t make the list? i’m surprised. but not at all surprised by the others that did. and a few new titles i’ll have to look for (journey to the well, to name one). thanks!
