Last vestiges of summer

We are a mere nine days from the start of school this year.   I’m finding it increasingly difficult to believe my baby will be in 5th grade … the last year of elementary school is here.  Seriously?  Wasn’t I just bringing this home from the hospital?

As these moments rush past me, I’m making a decision rooted in overflowing love to spend more time with her during these final days of summer laziness.   Unplugging for the most part and going to one of our favorite places, we’ll be spending some time as family trying some new things and sharing a day with dear friends.

All that to say, I’m not here … and while there will be posts linked here and there this week, I’ll be away.

Thank you for graciously understanding my absence and maybe you will be encouraged to take a day or two or a week to spend some time unplugged with your family too!

When was the last time you intentionally unplugged in order to engage with your family?

  1. Praying for you during your unplugged time! I know He has blessings in store for you and your family! What sweet memories you will make! Enjoy!

  2. I know… I know. We are doing the same thing starting tomorrow. It's been a good summer but they continue to go faster and faster. I am praying for your girl in school this year. Good grades… good friends… good teachers…. and light in the darkness. If there is something specific to pray about please let me know. Have a wonderful week together.

  3. Missing you online but so glad you're taking some extra time to soak up that girl before school! 🙂 Have a wonderful vacation from the online and real pressures! 🙂

  4. I was unplugged at the same time for the same intentional reasons. 🙂 SO sensing the need to hold on to the last times of summer with my kiddos. Sigh.

  5. My husband decided that we are getting away this weekend so that we are unplugged as a family before school starts next Wednesday. I tried to plead with him about all the stuff I need to do, but I know that we need this time. We all do. Hope you are having a great time!

  6. I'm having a hard time believing that my son will start 6th grade! I mostly unplugged for the Summer and I'm so glad I did – my blog didn't suffer as much as I expected and I even gained a few followers – LOL!

Hope you enjoyed your time and have a great start to the school year! 🙂
