Home is a place not only of strong affections, but of entire unreserve; it is life’s undress rehearsal, its backroom, its dressing room. ~ Harriet Beecher Stowe
The “undress rehearsal” … I love that idea. My daughter dances and dress rehearsals are a huge part of our lives. Chaotic, loud, and busy are words that describe the backstage happenings before a production. Home as an undress rehearsal brings to mind calm, peaceful, and stable.
Isn’t that what we desire our homes to be? A haven where the weary can rest, the hurt can heal, and the busy can slow. A place to laugh, to unwind, to release. A sanctuary for the body, mind, and spirit.
Creating this environment can certainly be challenging. But challenging is not the same as impossible and there are simple ways to invite warmth and welcome into our homes.
