I love being a Samaritan’s Purse blogger. What they do is amazing … through Operation Christmas Child, this ministry impacts the lives of countless children around the world.
But Samaritan’s Purse does way more than hand out shoeboxes. The Children’s Heart Project provides children with life-saving heart surgeries. Through construction projects and disaster relief, staff and volunteers from Samaritan’s Purse change lives in the United States and around the world. World Medical Missions provides basic healthcare and comprehensive medical services in areas where none would otherwise be available. You can donate a goat or chickens, fruit trees or bee keeping supplies to provide families and communities the opportunity to become self-sustaining.
Every time I get an email from Samaritan’s Purse about what they are doing I am encouraged and reminded that we will be asked about what we’ve done for “the least of these.”
On Monday, Samaritan’s Purse launched a week-long campaign:
The goal was to raise $50,000 to build 5 wells in South Sudan in 5 days. This is what happened:
Samaritan’s Purse launched a five-day campaign on Monday to raise enough support to drill five wells for struggling families in South Sudan. We thought 5 Wells in 5 Days was a God-sized effort. But our view of God was too small. He moved in the hearts of our donors, and we met the goal on the first day. Before noon on the second day, the total doubled. We are amazed at the greatness and goodness of our Lord. Rather than set a new goal, we are going to let Him set the number and see what happens by the end of the week. Please know that the need remains great in South Sudan, and that the money raised from this campaign will be used to drill wells that can transform entire communities and reach those in need with clean water and the promise of a new life in Jesus Christ. {from the Samaritan’s Purse website}
Here’s the thing: we can keep building wells!! God is not limited by what we think is big. His word says He is able to do IMMEASURABLY MORE than we can ask or imagine. Maybe you have $5 to give or maybe you have $500. Maybe you have no money but you can share the need with 5 friends at church or with 500 friends on Facebook. But if we all do a little, God will make our little into so much more.
So how can you help?
- Donate and/or sign up for emails to celebrate with us when the well drilling begins.
- Watch this video and share with your social media connections so they can join the efforts.
- Learn about the need for water and the solutions available. Learn about what Samaritan’s Purse is doing.
- And tomorrow, on the Samaritan’s Purse blog, there will be images like the one below for you to share on Facebook and Pinterest. We share silly ecards and favorite recipes all the time … can we give a few minutes of today to learn about this serious situation and then again tomorrow to invite others to join us and get involved!
Will you help spread the word?

It is my distinct honor to do so. I love being able to spread the gospel in this way.
