We Learn to Order Our Days

Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. Psalm 90:12

How do you spend your days? Are you frantically rushing from one thing to the next, never quite feeling caught up or under control? Do you find yourself facing each day with trepidation and frustration rather than joy and enthusiasm? Do you consistently feel overwhelmed or exhausted by your life?

Let’s face it, we all have seasons where life just doesn’t seem to run smoothly.  But, there is a huge difference between the craziness of life during fall baseball season or those six weeks of insanity between Thanksgiving and New Year’s and living in that sort of chaos all the time.

I’m not here to offer you five steps to getting your schedule under control or three ways to stop the crazy. I wish I could! But the reality is life is always going to bring a little bit of chaos. I can however share with you some general principles for managing the ever-changing seasons in our lives.  These are broad concepts designed for you to adapt to your particular lifestyle and family’s needs.  For the next three days we’ll be looking at the following ideas:

  • Establishing priorities
  • Embracing {a little} chaos
  • Encouraging creativity

Living well isn’t always easy. We know that.  But this week, as we explore learning to order our days, I hope you will be encouraged and challenged to take small but meaningful steps toward the abundant life Christ intends for each of us!

See you tomorrow!
