My love language is “words of affirmation” which means I really like people to tell me what they appreciate about me … and I really like it to be very specific. And I also enjoy writing notes of encouragement to others.  Our church’s theme this year is LOVE LOUD and this month’s Love Loud Challenge is to write a note of thanks to someone who has been an encourager in your life.  Last week I sent notes to a couple of people in my life who have always believed in and supported me.

There is something very special about a handwritten note. Don’t you think?

My husband and I have a box filled with the notes and cards we’ve given to each other over the years.  A few years ago, I wrote a whole post about our written love story. Our history is in that box … letters from when we first met, cards we’ve given each other, notes of apology and encouragement, and even some post-it notes that simply say, “I love you.”

How long has it been since you wrote your husband a love note? I encourage you to make some time to do just that. Get out pen and paper or go buy a card … but write down what you love about him, why you’re thankful for him, how being married to him has blessed you … just let him know you love him.

Cheering you on,
TL

  1. Love this!! I am not great with words but they are important to my husband so it is something I have to work at!! Thank you for this challenge…I am going to take it and run with it!! Have a blessed day!! Hugs

  2. This is the one benefit of deployment with times of little to no communication … I send a stack of letters with my husband so has one to read each week while he’s gone so that if he can’t receive e-mails he still has reminders of home. Besides, handwritten letters are much more personal.
