When Broken Hearts Are Healed

When Broken Hearts Are Healed || TeriLynneUnderwood.com

I had a heart attack.

Nope, I’m not joking. During church April 27. While the choir was singing. {I’m in the choir.}

Yes, it feels surreal to type those words.

No, I don’t have a vast family history of heart disease. No, I don’t have high cholesterol or high blood pressure. No, I’m not overweight. No, there were no warning signs or symptoms.

Yes, I know how scary that is.

{Believe me, I know!}

I’m doing very well. Resting and recuperating. Adjusting to all. the. medicines. And realizing I’m not super woman after all.

when broken hearts are healed

Just a few images of the past week … not too much of the scary stuff {except that crazy pill box!}.

I’d imagine you’ll be hearing {reading} a lot more about heart disease in women around here. And I’m sure eventually I’ll share the whole story … including the scariest ambulance ride in the history of the world. {No, I’m not exaggerating.}

But for now, I wanted to say thank you to everyone who has been praying. God has been so faithful through all of this and I am overwhelmed by the way He orchestrates every detail of our lives to point to Him. I’m thankful for incredible nurses and doctors who both highly proficient and also incredibly kind.

I’m thankful for my husband who is the best man alive! He has held me hand and loved me in the most generous and selfless way imaginable. I don’t deserve him but I sure do love him. I’m thankful for my girl who has done laundry and dishes and brought me drinks and snuggled extra.

I’m thankful for both Scott’s and my family who are just incredible! I’m thankful for my church family who have showered me with love and care. We are truly blessed to be a part of Calvary Baptist Church. I’m thankful for my friends who have gone above and beyond.

I’m thankful to be alive … seriously! And I’m thankful for the assurance of my salvation and the hope of eternal life I have in Christ.

And speaking of salvation, last Sunday while I was in the hospital in Alabama getting treatment for my broken heart, my niece was in her church in Oklahoma getting treatment for her own broken heart. That’s my precious Paulee Rea in the photo up top … wearing a tiara because obviously she is a princess! She made this video for me and said I could share it with all of you.

Isn’t that the sweetest thing you’ve ever seen? I love that precious girl! And I’m so happy she’s not just my niece in this life but my sister for eternity.

Thankful for broken hearts healed,
Teri Lynne

  7. That is the sweetest video ever !!! I am so glad that you are healing and adjusting to your new normal well. Right after my husband’s unexpected heart attack about 6 years ago I would wake up at night, call him 100 times a day and not want him to do anything for fear of him having another one. So I also lift your husband and daughter up in prayer, that God will give them a peace.
