31 Verses to Pray for Your Marriage {Proverbs 21:21}

Whoever pursues righteousness and kindness will find life, righteousness, and honor.

Proverbs 21:21

What are you chasing as a couple?

If we are really honest, sometimes we are not on the same page, we don’t have the same pursuits.

He’s pushing ahead on a hobby. She’s wholly invested in the children. His eye is on the prize at work. She is diligent about exercise.  The ways this plays out are endless. And, it is distinctly possible both are pursuing good things, noble things.

But if we are not united in our single pursuit of intimacy with Christ, the rest of what we gain will be meaningless.

One of the guiding verses in my life is John 10:10 —

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I cam that they may have life and have it abundantly.

The New International Version says “life to the full.”  I love that! Not just life, but life to the full.

But the truth is, in order to experience this abundant life, we have to give up having a life full of stuff and activities.  We can’t have both.

Having and doing will always keep us from being.

Being still in His presence.  Being content where He leads. Being surrendered to His plan. Being set apart for His purpose.

Lord, create in us a longing for being. Teach us to pursue righteousness and holiness above all else in order that we may experience the fullness of life You offer. In Jesus’ name. Amen
