Coming in October … more Lopsided Living encouragement!

It’s been awhile since I spent any significant time talking about Lopsided Living. It’s an ongoing theme that undergirds pretty much everything else but I haven’t shared any new encouragement or challenges lately.

So grab your coffee, your Bible, your calendar, and your journal and hang on tight — because October is all about Lopsided Living!

Lopsided Living and Loving It is for you if: you want a better way to live a fuller life, you don't let your busy-ness keep you from Kingdom business, your full calendar doesn't keep you from living life to the full. We'll discuss topics from time management strategies to tips for Bible study and everything in between.  I would LOVE for you to be a part of this group as we seek to encourage one another in lopsided living.

Lopsided Living Encouragement

To be really transparent here—I need this reminder and encouragement more than ever. And since I figure I’m pretty average, I’m willing to bet you might be looking for a little encouragement about living a full life with a full calendar yourself.

Just to give you a little peek at why I KNOW I need this here’s a little bit of what October is bringing to the Underwoods:

  • Scott will begin a new job as Associate Pastor at First Baptist Church in Florence, AL
  • I’m attending a conference in Nashville
  • Scott is leading a revival in Brusnwick, GA
  • I’m speaking at a conference in NY (Join me there??)
  • Casiday is on Homecoming Court so we have a week of activities with that
  • I’m speaking at an event in Birmingham

All of that is amazing and fun stuff! We are thrilled about all of it. But Florence is about 40 minutes from where we live and we won’t be moving until this spring so Casiday can finish her senior year without that drive everyday.  Which means Scott will be making the drive every day and we’ll all be making it at least a couple of times a week. So, our family will be undergoing some serious adjustment about how we manage our time at home, etc.

Whew … when I type all of that out I think it’s no wonder I am tired. haha!!

But seriously, seasons like this are exactly what led me to lopsided living anyway. I just know that my busy-ness doesn’t mean I can’t be doing Kingdom business and I want to trust God for the wisdom and grace to navigate the next few months of crazy.

SOOOOO … what is coming in October, you query??  Two things I’ve been wanting to do for the last several months —

First, a new series here on the blog—Seeing the Gifts of God in Every Day Life: an invitation to lopsided living

Do you know there's more to life than you what you are experiencing? Lopsided Living is all about a better way to a fuller life. Spend October noticing the gifts of God in every day life.

I’ll be sharing a little word of encouragement every weekday in October about seeking out the gifts of God in our every day lives. Over the past several months, I’ve had this push to realize and savor the generosity of God in my life (hence the Our Generous God Bible study). It’s such a sweet thing to stop and acknowledge the truth that every good and perfect gift comes from Him (James 1:17).  So, I’m inviting you to join me for a month of really paying attention. The posts will be super short — an invitation to observe, reflect, and record these every day graces.

And, if you’re like me and know you’ll forget to check the blog or Facebook every day, you can get each of the posts quietly slipped into your inbox every morning.  Simply sign up here!

I’ve been wanting to do this for a long time and with this new series, it’s the perfect time to start!
