Why So Busy? 3 Reasons and 3 Responses

You're busy. I know. I am too. {Remember, I'm not even apologizing for it anymore.} But here's the thing, there's good busy and there's bad busy. I know, it all makes our calendars look crazy. But the truth is, there are times when life is just busy and it's for all the right reasons. And then there are the other times — you know, when we've let things get out of control and we need a reality check. When I look at the busy season in my life, I've noticed there are three main ... Praying the Psalms {or “I No Longer Think David Was a Whiner”}

I can be, well let's just say, I can be overly emotional. I like to blame it on my mid-forties hormones but the truth is, I've always been this way. I come by it honest — my Bigmama is, as my Aunt Mollianne says, "a force of nature." I feel things deeply, believe things strongly, and speak things passionately. I get tears in my eyes every time the band plays "Star-Spangled Banner" before a football game and I laugh hysterically at the cat and cucumber videos every time I watch them on ... [Read More]

10 Encouraging Verses from Philippians

My Vacation Priorities

We may even manage a hike up to Clingman's Dome this year. Scott's grandparents are going with us so I feel sure there will be a Rook game or two in the evenings and we may even be able to talk Casiday into ... [Read More]

3 Ways to Stay Grounded in Your Marriage {even when it feels like a roller coaster!}

Twenty years ago, Scott and I spent our honeymoon in Orlando. We wandered through the stores on Main Street at Magic Kingdom where we bought a personalized ornament we still hang every year on our Christmas tree. I snapped a photo of Scott with Doc's DeLorean from Back to the Future while we were at Universal. And we stood in the long line more than once for the Tower of Terror at Disney's MGM (now Hollywood) Studios. Can I admit now, twenty years later, I never would have gotten on the ride ... [Read More]
