Content in Christ

Welcome back to 31 Days of Living Well ... we left off a couple of weeks ago as life got so busy for me off line I didn't have time to keep writing online.  But here we are — ready to finish up the last 10 days.  In case you'd forgotten, the last post was We learn contentment.  Over the next few days we'll look at contentment in Christ, with ourselves, and in this season.  Ready to get started again? Great! Me too!! I keep asking myself this question: Are you REALLY content in Christ? I ... [Read More]

There Are No Orphans of God: Orphan Sunday 2013

One of my favorite songs of the past few years is "Orphans of God." There is such beauty in these words ... There are no strangers There are no outcasts There are orphans of God. So many fallen But hallelujah There are no orphans of God. Today is Orphan Sunday.  While we know there are no orphans of God, no child without a Father in His kingdom, we also know there are an estimated 153 million orphans around the world. 153 million.  What can we do? What I Learned in October

Whew ... October is over.  Traditionally, it's my favorite month.  But this year, it is more of a blur.  I suppose that is mostly related to the season of life I'm in.  Somehow, all those years of Scott doing student ministry weren't quite as much preparation as I thought they were for the reality of having a teenager in our home.  And so, without further fanfare, let's get to what I learned ... Being the mom of a teenager is the hardest thing I've ever done.  My girl is fun and witty and ... [Read More]

We Learn Contentment

Waaaay back at the beginning of this series I shared one of the truths of living well: We can be content.  This week, we're going to spend some time unpacking this concept and exploring what true contentment looks like in the heart, mind, and life of a believer. Paul wrote in his letter to the Philippians: Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, ... [Read More]

{Sunday Scripture} Psalm 90:12

As you look at the week ahead, remember this: God sees what you can't and knows what you don't. Ask Him to grant you wisdom as you plan and prepare. We've been memorizing Scripture each week during this 31 Days of Living Well series.  So far, we've learned John 10:10 and Colossians 3:23.  Will you join me in embedding these verses to remind ourselves of what the abundant life looks like? ... {encouraging words} His Love Changes Everything

I'm reading an incredible book right now: Let Hope In by Pete Wilson.  I've finished the first eight chapters and I think I've underlined over half of it.  I'll be sharing a full review in early November but this weekend, I just wanted to share some of the wisdom Pete has offered.  I love this reminder that my redemption isn't based on me and what I do or who I am ... it's all God. And His love truly does change everything! This weekend and as you prepare your heart for worship tomorrow, ... [Read More]
