I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. And I am sure of this, that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.
Philippians 1:3-6, emphasis added
Do you make your prayers with joy? Paul’s heart was filled with gratitude for this church in Philippi and in his prayers he shared that joy. It’s easy in the day-to-day living to lose sight of the joy we have due to our relationships with others. We get busy and focused on the task at hand and somehow sharing our gratitude as we pray gets lost in the shuffle. Today, this Lord’s Day, I’d like to encourage you to set aside some time to make your prayer with joy for the people in your life.
Oh God, forgive us for allowing the frenzy of life to distract us from praying with joy. We invite You, we beg You, to change our sights and give us the lens of joy through which to view our lives. Cause us to notice the blessing of those You have placed in our homes and in our hearts. Teach us to pray with joy, always. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
{The photo above is of a set of prayer rocks my daughter made for an aunt. Prayer rocks can be a visible tool to help us pray with purpose. I have written about how we have used prayer rocks and other reminders in our home.}

Great reminder to pray out of joy, not just out of sorrow or concern.
