Listening when Life Is Loud

Listening when life is loud .... 3 steps to pay attention to the Lord when your world is spinning

It’s barely 8:30 a.m. and I’ve already heard from a friend whose husband is stuck in the floods raging in Louisiana and from my daughter who had made the difficult choice to step away from something she loves because she knows it is the best decision. I saw the doctor yesterday and there are a few minor health questions we haven’t yet found answers for. And that’s just the past day …. life is hard, y’all. So many needs and hurts and sorrows. And I ache for all of them.

Sometimes my world is just loud. This is one of those seasons. It feels like every situation and need around me is shouting for my attention, for my help, for another piece of my time and my heart. It’s not just the “bad” stuff — there are so many great things happening around me — but all of it together creates this cacophony of noise. Not enough time, not enough energy, not enough wisdom, not enough … anything. Maybe you can relate?

Today I’m sharing three steps I take to listen to the Lord, especially in the loud seasons as part of Katie Reid’s Listen Close, Listen Well series.  So pop over there and read more …
