What I’m Reading {April 2017}

I didn't get to read as much as I like this month.  In fact, I feel like I barely got to read at all.  Life is like that sometimes, right? I did get some flowers planted in one of the flower beds and somehow that feels like a huge accomplishment. (seriously) Nonetheless, I did read a few chapters here and there. Here's what I'm reading ... What I'm Reading April 2017 Adorned: Living Out the Beauty of the Gospel Together by Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth — Has this one been on the list all ... [Read More]

Looking for a New Bible? I Recommend the Christian Standard Bible (CSB)

For the record, I wasn't looking for a new Bible. I was perfectly content with my ESV Study Bible. But curiosity always gets me.  Plus, I'd tried the HCSB a couple of times and wasn't a huge fan. So, when the opportunity to look at its update, the CSB (Christian Standard Bible), presented itself, I decided to give it a go. {So you know, I received my copy of the CSB from B&H in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are entirely my own and based on using the Bible in church, in ... [Read More]

What If We Became Women who Never Unfriended?

"Lord, may the words in this book change the next generation." I choked back the sob threatening to push its way out of my throat. Around the room, women murmured, "Yes, Lord," and everything in me wanted to fall on my knees. These women, gathered in the prayer room at our church— the same room where we have prayed for marriages to be saved, for bodies to be healed, for souls to be saved—now stood circled around the Praying for Girls final edits, praying for God to use the words to change ... What I’m Reading {March 2017}

Y'all, I'm still reading some of the same books I started in January.  This really never happens but March has flown by.  Scott did two revivals, Casiday had prom, and I've been working diligently to prepare for the Praying for Girls: Asking God for the Things They Need Most launch. {Which is less than four months away, which sounds like a long time, but really, I don't think it will be.} Last month I said part of the reason I love these What I'm Reading posts so much is because if we were ... 15 Great Bible Studies for Women

So, almost six years ago I wrote a little post titled Top Ten Bible Study Recommendations and, y'all, it keeps pushing its way to the top of the pile around here. Those ten recommendations are still some of my favorites but I figured it might be time for an updated list. :) 15 Great Bible Studies for Women First a couple of caveats ... because undoubtedly I will leave off your favorite study, right? This list does not include what I call "book studies" which are often found lumped in with ... [Read More]

What I’m Reading {January 2017}

This is probably one of my favorite types of posts to write because I love to share what I'm reading. If we met for coffee and I got there before you, you wouldn't walk in and see me on my phone, you'd see me holding a book {or maybe my Kindle}. I always have a book in my bag. And there are always stacks of books marking where I'm sitting. I desperately want to keep a running list of what I've finished but, well, it's been a few years since I was successful at that.  However, I am working ... [Read More]
