I keep thinking it wasn't real. The whole thing was just a dream. I didn't really have a heart attack. I want it to not be real. I want to go back to before ... Before when my weight and cholesterol and blood pressure were numbers that looked good and gave me confidence in my health. Before when 42 was really way too young for anything scary like a heart attack. Before when I drank my coffee and ate my bagel and didn't have a handful of pills to go with my breakfast. We all have a ... [Read More]
Do Small Things Matter for Eternity? {Rhinestone Jesus Book Review}
Sometimes I wonder if what I do really matters. I'm a wife and a mom. I write blog posts and newspaper columns. I do laundry and give the dog baths. I teach a weekly Bible study. I consult with small businesses and help develop social media strategies. And I read a lot of books. My life is pretty small. I don't say that disparagingly or with any shame. I have a great life — a husband who loves me, a daughter who brings us so much joy, an encouraging family, the best friends, an awesome ... [Read More]
So, There Are These Voices in my Head

Today, at the Allume blog, I'm sharing the most important lessons I hope she learns from me. Will you join me there? I'd love to hear from you about what lessons your want to teach with your life ... ... [Read More]
JOY on the Ride of Life! {a God-sized dreams post}
With the abandon rarely found as we get older, my daughter and her friend raced to the kiddie coaster at a local park. They jumped on board and with arms raised high the laughed and screamed as the ride twisted and turned. I lost count of how many times the went around the tracks as the spring sun shone through the green trees. I took three hundred pictures of these two girls, caught between childhood and adolescence. Eyes sparkling, faces beaming, they rode the coaster, the carousel, and ... [Read More]
