Every October I join the throngs who write 31 days straight. Here are the series I've done in previous years: 2010: 31 Days Under Construction {notes from real-life journal} 2011: 31 Days of Joy {a journey through Philippians} 2012: 31 Days of #MustRead 31 Days Series {a gathering of great links!} 2013: 31 Days of Living Well {in full disclosure, this series I never quite finished ... draw your own conclusions about what that says about me! LOL} 2014: 31 Verses to Pray for Your Girl ... [Read More]
Be Generous with Grace
Grace: the unmerited favor of God; receiving that which we don't deserve. We can’t do enough or be good enough or live well enough to earn the grace God has given. It’s why verses like this mean much to us as believers: For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not as a result of works so that no one may boast. Ephesians 2:8-9 Not from ourselves. Not of ourselves. Not through ourselves. It isn’t about us at all. Grace is entirely ... [Read More]
Busy but Good
Y'all ... I cannot believe I have not written anything for over two weeks. It isn't because I haven't wanted to or had things to say {seriously, I always have something to say! LOL}. Life has just been busy. And you know, I'm not apologizing for that anymore, right? I'm good ... the busy is good. I'm doing the stuff that matters, the most important stuff. But I miss being here in this space. So I promise to be back here with regular content soon {more about that below}. Even though I'm ... [Read More]
Yes, I Read My Daughter’s Texts {and no, it isn’t because I don’t trust her}
Yes, I am that mom. Every night, I read my daughter's texts and log into her social media accounts to look at the direct messages and friends lists. I am the one who "stalks" anyone on those lists I don't know. I am the mom who knew about Yik Yak two days before a student used it to make a bomb threat at my daughter's school because I was checking texts. One of my girl's friends said to her mom, "Mrs. Teri Lynne knows everything. She might even know before it happens." As much as I'd ... [Read More]
What I Learned in August
How is August over?? Y'all ... it is crazy! Tonight is my girl will cheer at the first JV football game of the season. The best part of the end of August is that it brings me to my favorite time of the year — COLLEGE FOOTBALL SEASON!! I can't wait to watch Auburn play Louisville on Saturday. Most months I try to join the lovely Emily as she invites us all to share what we learned. For those of you who just like pictures, here is my month in images: And here is some explanation and ... What I’m Reading {August 2015}
I read. A lot. And I am not exceptionally good at keeping my Book List up-t0-date. {understatement} Also, I don't put books I'm re-reading or most fiction books on the list anyway ... so it's never 100% accurate. I never read just one book at a time. Emily Freeman and Shelly Miller have both written beautiful posts lately about why they read multiple books simultaneously. And my head nodded in agreement with the words each of them shared. Also, I have found that I need different types of ... [Read More]
