{Top Ten} Orlando Pics

Last weekend we took a quick trip to Orlando so we could see the new Shamu show, "One Ocean."  It was good ... but honestly, since they've removed the human interaction component from the shows, they are not as much fun to watch.   We much prefer the dolphin show and the Clyde and Seamore {sea lions} show.     That said, here are a few of my favorite pics from our overnight jaunt to the most popular tourist destination in the world. And my two favorite people ... [Read More]

Focus

No, dear brothers and sisters, I am still not all that I should be, but I am focusing all my energies on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead. I strain to reach the end of the race and receive the prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us up to heaven. Philippians 4:13-14 NLT (emphasis added) Where is your focus? ... Him or Me?

Daily.  Moment by moment.  An ongoing reality in each of our lives. Making choices. Loving the Word or loving the world. Seeking His kingdom or building my own. Delighting in truth or devouring lies. It all boils down to this: You are my refuge and my shield;  I have put my hope in Your Word. Psalm 119:114, NIV The choice?  Putting our hope in God and His Word.  Resting in confident expectation rooted in Him.  It's hard, though, isn't it?   To choose to lay down our own dreams and desires, our ... Help for “The Change”

I'm just going to lay it all out there today. In the past couple of years, I've gone through a major transition ... though it seems I was basically unaware of said transition until quite recently.  I suppose I thought the moodiness, inability to sleep, lack of focus, ongoing procrastination, and being hot all the time were just a normal part of my 30s.  Duh. Doesn't every woman go through this?  Isn't "the change" a part of life for we XX chromosome types? The doctor put me on some pills and ... [Read More]

What Distracts You?

Eons ago ... January 19th, to be exact, I began a sharing the ten controlling principles of simplicity as outlined in Richard Foster's Celebration of Discipline.   We should have completed that study a month ago ... but sometimes living gets in the way of blogging and that has definitely been the case the past several weeks. Today, we'll finally wrap up those principles. Shun anything that distracts you from seeking first the kingdom of God. (95) I think a quick word study might be ... [Read More]

What Now?

I've typed and erased, saved and deleted ... but today's post has not come easily.   Words have proven inadequate, photos insufficient.  My heart remains heavy from the weight of His sacrifice, from the depth of my unworthiness, from the gratitude for life through Him. I read the end of all the gospels this morning.  So many responses to the Risen Lord ... disbelief, wonder, oblivion, obedience.   I wonder today ... What now? What will I do with the lessons learned in my silence?  What ... [Read More]
