Lean into Yet!

  We all have an "even though."  Maybe yours is a sick child or a broken marriage.  Perhaps you are struggling with an overextended  calendar or a more month than money.  Some may be feeling that ache of loneliness or be in a season of wondering if God still sees them.  Our "even thoughs" are all different.  But the "yet" remains the same: I will rejoice in the Lord! Perhaps this weekend you need to lean into the "yet."  Rest in the presence of the Lord and experience the sweetness of ... [Read More]

Moments to Treasure

Life is precious. But sometimes we lose sight of how fragile life truly is. This past weekend, my cousin, who would have been 45 this November, passed away unexpectedly in her sleep.   This week, while others are celebrating with fireworks and cook-outs, my aunt will be planning the funeral of her firstborn child.  While others are boating on a lake somewhere, my cousin's daughter will be facing the reality of life without her mother in it.    While many are gathering with family for holiday ... I Was Wrong

"If you don't have time to spend in Bible study every day then your priorities are wrong." It hurts me to type that sentence.  Because it is embarrassing to me that I have said it many times to people who didn't need to be admonished, they needed to be heard and encouraged. About two or three years ago, the Lord began showing me the depth of my pride and self-righteousness in the area of daily Bible study.  I used to judge people who said they just didn't have time to spend a lot of time ... Holy Week Meditations: A God Who Calls Me Friend

You are my friends if you obey me.  I no longer call you servants, because a master doesn't confide in his servants.  Now you are my friends since I have told you everything the Father told me.  John 15:14-15 NLT A GOD WHO CALLS ME FRIEND Friendship.  It's a precious gift, isn't it?  One that is often elusive here on earth sometimes.  We hurt people, we get hurt.  We say things without thinking and we miss opportunities to serve and love. We confront our need to forgive and must ... [Read More]

The Husband’s Favorites: Day 3 {On Praying for Him}

{What a gift to read Scott's words about why he chose this post as one of his favorites.  And what a joy to pray for my husband every day.} Today I am thankful to have a wife that prays for me and not just praying for what she wants me to be. But instead, Teri Lynne faithfully prays Scripture for me to be shaped into the image of Christ. This post several years ago was a huge encouragement to me. ~ Scott Praying for Him For thirteen years I have had the honor of traveling life’s road ... [Read More]

On Being Brave and Lessons from my Daughter

Every month I am honored to share some thoughts with an amazing group of mommas - girl mommas, just like me.  Women whose hearts know the joy and fear of parenting a girl-child.  Women whose prayers cover their daughters from head to toe and heart to soul.  Women who long to raise up a generation of God-loving, God-fearing young ladies.   Women who know we parent best when we are bowed low before the Father. I've been writing at MOD Squad for over a year.  My column is all about parenting from ... [Read More]
