Construction Zone: Smallness

September 23, 2006 My child, listen and be wise.  Keep your heart on the right course.  Proverbs 23:19 Lord, I am humbled by the reality of how very big You are and how very small I am.  Forgive me for not listening … for following my own course … for being disobedient.  I need You, Lord, desperately. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~ This is  my desire … to keep my heart on the right course.  And I know that can only happen by spending time every. single. day. in prayer and seeking Him in His Word. Sometimes a ... [Read More]

Construction Zone: Failure

September 13, 2006 Well, it's 3:33 pm .... I feel like my day has not been under control.  Lord, I am sorry for not getting up early this morning ... for being lazy. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Today, I want to encourage you by saying, "Don't give up!"  Some days are simply out of control ... some days we don't get up early .... some days we are lazy ... and some days it is way past 3:33 pm when we finally make a moment for a short prayer that simply says, "Lord, I'm sorry." Today, we’ll wrap it all up with a brief look at how this civil assent, being polite, MUST mark our lives within the body of Christ … ... [Read More]

It’s only halftime?

In case you are unaware, I am a football fanatic. I watch college football for HOURS every weekend.  It begins with the Thursday night game and doesn’t end until I’ve checked the new rankings on Sunday mornings.  We are Auburn fans at Chez Underwood … huge Auburn fans.  And my daughter is slowly learning to enjoy the game, or maybe it’s just that she enjoys watching her momma jump around like a crazy woman, I’m not going to ask.  Sometimes though, when the games have been on all day she’ll come ... Confessions of a Recovering Know-it-All

Ten years ago ... I had a four-month old. I had never taught a Bible study class. I only had a dream of writing a book ... but no clue what it would be about. I *knew* a whole lot of stuff. I was quick to give an opinion. I was long to hold a grudge. I felt the need to defend myself. I was big on truth and small on grace. Today ... I have a ten-year-old. I've taught more Bible studies than I can count and written over 15 to teach in my church. I have a ... [Read More]
