Dear Weary Mom, Dig In!!

Oh friend! I wish you were here next to me.  This little note would be so much better as a long chat over yummy chocolate cheesecake and some really good coffee.   I've been thinking about this topic often since I started writing these weekly letters for the weary moms.  We can be a pitiful little sisterhood, you know?  We're frazzled and worn out.  Sometimes we end up in a puddle of tears on the kitchen floor wondering if we'll survive.  I know ... I'm there more often than I ever dreamed I ... [Read More]

On Dreams and Seasons of Life

In January I started writing about chasing the God-sized dream in my heart. Of course, it all started with me realizing I wasn't even sure what that dream was and learning to listen so He could show me.  It hasn't been an easy journey for me, this God-size dream chasing.  In fact, I'm sitting here six months later and realizing while I do see a little more clearly, I still am not certain where this path is leading.  I know He's given me a heart and passion for encouraging women to live well, to ... {Five Minute Friday} View

Every Friday this amazing group of writers join together to write—unedited, fearless, and brave—for five minutes.  Our favorite (in)courager Lisa-Jo Baker, the Gypsy Mama herself, offers us a prompt and we write. This week's prompt:  VIEW. GO My view is changing so quickly.  I used to look around and see Fisher Price toys with all their bright colors and lights and sounds.  Just when all the batteries finally died and I thought silence would be found in our house, the next view ... Make Time to Play {a God-Size Dreams post}

This week is one of those crazy-busy, tear-out-your-hair, meet-yourself-coming-and-going kind of weeks.  My husband is leading worship for a revival.  My daughter's spring musical is Thursday and Friday.  I have a speaking engagement Thursday night and (in)RL is this weekend. My house is a wreck.  The vacuum died on Monday so it's still standing where it stopped, cord snaking through two different rooms.  Apparently people are sneaking in and taking showers while we are all away from home ... I Like to Be Right.

I like to be right. Let me restate that, I need to be right. It's one of those ongoing flesh-versus-spirit battles in my life. I want people to see my point of view and agree with me.  Seriously, I went to college on a debate scholarship—I don't just want you to listen to me, I want to persuade you to my point of view.  Always. No where is this more evident than in my relationship with my child.  Recently in the mall, we walked past Victoria's Secret.  The girl casually mentioned she'd ... [Read More]

Lead Your Family Like Jesus

  I live a very real, very ordinary life.  There is always laundry to wash and meals to cook. Twenty-four hours never seems like quite enough.  And some days it feels like all I'm doing is spinning my wheels.  Everything I wash will have to be rewashed.  Every meal I cook will be eaten and another one will be needed within a few hours.  Dishes fill the sink as fast as I can get them washed and put into cabinets.  Beds need making, bathrooms need cleaning ... and before I know it, the ...
