Pleasing Aromas

Leviticus has become one of the books I most enjoy studying and reading since I did B90Days last year.   I found myself fascinated by the many sacrifices and rituals necessary for restored relationship with God ... and so thankful for the grace that now covers our sins and offers us wholeness through Christ. Last week, as I read through Leviticus again for B90Days, I noticed a phrase that I followed:  "an aroma pleasing to the Lord." Time and again the sacrifices produced this pleasing ... [Read More]

Simple Contentment

[I'm also writing at Scripture Dig on the Inward Disciplines and at MOD Squad on Overflowing Goodness today.  Please visit me there as well!] Over the past few weeks, my blogging has been, shall we say, sporadic?   But the counting?  Oh the counting has continued.  Blessings and joys, gifts and moments, all cataloged carefully to remind me of the necessity of a grateful heart. So today, I share with you a sampling of the sweetness of simple blessings and a contented heart {Hebrews 13:5}: {#88 ... [Read More]

Praying for You

And so, this is it ... my final scheduled post for 2010. Contentment in Chaos

It's Nutcracker week ... and we just finished our first White Christmas festival over the weekend at our church.  Suffice it to say, last week was crazy and this week looks to be equally exciting and exhausting. So, how do we manage to remain content and calm even in the midst of the insane schedules that accompany these wonderful events and opportunities? Keep counting ... hugs from children, laughter of friends, warm cocoa on a cold day ... and in the counting find peace in the ... [Read More]

Contentment in Loss

As the holiday season has begun and the joy that surrounds the festivities seems to ring out from the red and green and bows and bells, my heart is torn.   Filled with richness and satisfaction for the ways in which He has given me so many good gifts ... and yet also filled with holes and memories of those who will not celebrate with us here. Yes, Mr. Jack and Granny Strickland and Mrs. Cowan experience the joy in a fullness I do not know ... but I will miss sharing a Christmas Eve tradition ... [Read More]
